Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an internationally recognized academic support program and has been proven to increase student success for those who engage in the learning process. At Tulane, students see the best GPA outcomes when they attend five or more SI sessions. In these regularly scheduled, out-of-class review sessions, students will work collaboratively in reading discussions, solving practice problems, comparing notes, working together to prepare for tests, and sharing ideas for improving learning.
SI sessions have moved to a hybrid model. Most SI Leaders are holding scheduled Zoom sessions that are recorded and posted on Canvas. Some SI Leaders may choose to hold limited sessions or office hours in person with strict adherence to Tulane’s social distancing guidelines and room occupancy limits. Check your Canvas page and email for updates from your SI Leader or contact them directly.
We recommend that you join your virtual SI sessions on a tablet, laptop, or PC in order to engage in group work and work on problems. It will be difficult to fully engage in the SI experience on your phone.
If you are having trouble accessing Accudemia, scheduling an appointment or connecting to the Zoom session, please contact ALTC@tulane.edu and we will try and find a solution.
If you are having difficulty accessing our services due to problems with access to the internet or devices, please contact Tulane's IT service desk (504-862-8888 or firstname.lastname@example.org). They will try to find a solution.
SI schedule's are posted after the first week of class. If you are in an SI class, your SI Leader will send out a Doodle Poll to choose the best times for your weekly sessions. Please respond to the Doodle Poll so your SI can pick a time that is convenient for most people.
SI sessions are open to all student in a course, even if they are not attending the specific section indicated in the lists below. Please note, however, that different sections may move through the material at a different pace or in a different order. Check with the SI leader for the section to determine if they are covering the same material.
